Created as a companion to Mandalay Productions’ feature film Unbroken Ties (Myittar), GFATT’s Orphans music video carries the film’s message of hope and empowerment into a powerful visual and musical experience. The concept introduces acclaimed Myanmar rap artist GFATT—who experienced life as an orphan himself—as a successful adult encouraging a group of orphaned children to believe that their beginnings do not determine their future. His performance is interwoven with cinematic portrayals of young Marilyn Monroe, Malcolm X, and Steve Jobs, drawing inspiration from well-known figures who overcame different forms of childhood adversity before making their mark on the world. Together, music and storytelling deliver a simple message to children facing difficult beginnings: rise beyond your circumstances, believe in your potential, and imagine what your future can become.
“We wanted to create more than a music video—we wanted every child watching to see beyond their circumstances and believe in the possibilities of who they can become.” Shelly aka Meme Lwin, Music Video Directo
Music Video Overview
Produced and creatively developed by Mandalay Productions, the GFATT International Music Video transformed an original song from Unbroken Ties into a standalone visual story with a larger social purpose. Filmed across the San Francisco Bay Area with a specially auditioned cast, the production brought together original concept development, casting, location production, performance, and post-production to create a cinematic experience around GFATT’s Orphans.

More than a traditional music video, the project demonstrates how music and film can work together to extend a story beyond the screen and connect entertainment with meaningful social impact. In support of the Mary K. Yap Foundation’s mission, the production ultimately gives its spotlight to orphaned children—encouraging audiences to see not only the challenges they face, but the potential of who they can become.
