Matt Somogyi is a graduate of the film school at Chapman University and a talented filmmaker whose creative journey with Mandalay Productions began in sound engineering. Previously serving as our Head of Sound Engineering, Matt expanded his passion for filmmaking into directing with his career debut short film, Family Fiction. The film went on to earn an impressive 12 international awards and recognitions, marking an exciting beginning to his work as a director. Family Fiction explores the complexities of family relationships, examining the emotions, tensions, and personal truths that can exist beneath the surface of family life.

Matt’s work has a special connection to Mandalay Productions, with the MP team supporting Family Fiction through editing, localization, and producing. His progression from sound engineering to directing reflects the diverse creative talent that we value within our production family. We are proud to have Matt as part of the Mandalay Productions team and look forward to seeing his distinctive storytelling vision continue to grow through future projects.
